Life at WU

WILD

Walk-In Lie-Down, a legendary event on the WashU campus…alumni might speak of the days when dorm couches were hauled out to the quad to provide weary but party-hungry students a place to lie down while listening to a great concert.  Nowadays WILD is still a great party but without the actual dorm couches…this year we had blue plastic float-like couches that dotted the quad as we all listened to the DumDum Girls who opened for Fitz and the Tantrums!!  WILD is a biannual concert held each Fall and Spring to celebrate the last day of classes for the semester.  Usually in the Fall, Team 31 (the student group in charge of setting up WILD) will pick a more R&B/rap group while in the Spring they go for a more rock/folksy group.

Here’s the WILD lineup since I’ve been at WashU:

Freshman year, Fall 2009:   K’naan, Passion Pit, Method Man and Redman

Freshman year, Spring 2010: Shwayze, Cold War Kids

Sophomore year, Fall 2010: Amanda Blank, Major Lazer, Wale

Sophomore year, Spring 2011: Flying Lotus, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes

Junior year, Fall 2011: The White Panda, Mike Posner

Junior year, Spring 2012: The DumDum Girls, Fitz and the Tantrums

…if you haven’t heard of Fitz and the Tantrums, check out some of their songs:

Breakin’ the Chains of Love

Don’t Gotta Work it Out

MoneyGrabber

and pictures, of course!
